int.unity - the Internet platform with an integrated language technology for the trade union communication in German and English.

With the help of an innovative language technology, the project int.unity has put the cooperation between the Communication Workers Union (Great Britain) and the Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (United Service Union)"ver.di" on a new basis. In a two-year work the technical partners in the project, OrbiTeam Software GmbH and the Institute for Applied Information Research (IAI) Saarbrücken, have adapted the language technology to the requirements of trade union communication and integrated it into the internet platform BSCW. Language control tools and an automatic translation function are therefore available online. Documents and free entered text can be translated automatically in German-English and English-German online, the results of the automatic translation are improved considerably by the optimization of the source text with the help of the language control tool.
Moreover, the internet platform offers a comprehensive document administration and different communication functions.

Prerequisites for the use of the int.unity technology are internet access and a Web browser only!
